Default posting guidelines?

Is there a list of posting guidelines for these message boards? I've looked, but can't seem to find a link.

On the Home Page there are a bunch of red bars on the left-hand side.

Click on "ABOUT"

Basically, the rules are simple. No profanity, no spam, no personal attacks.

I'm just wondering why a post of mine -- and a couple other people's posts -- on the Celebrity board were removed.

I read the rules, and I have a question about them. Is mentioning another cruise-related message board and/or the Celebrity-sponsored parties considered 'advertising' or spam?

If this is a no-no --- sorry, I didn't know it was against the rules.

Hi Laura,

Postings directing people to commercial web sites is considered advertising, and is therefore a violation of CruiseMates user agreement.
While the deletions of some posts may seem somewhat undue, history has shown allowing such posts to remain encourages further "advertising" whether directly related to that subject, or moving on to others.
CruiseMates is free to the public because it is supported by it's advertisers, and therefore we must take some steps to protect them. Allowing "advertising" posts to remain on the message boards free, while they are paying, doesn't make great business sense<G>

Simply... mentioning other commercial sites in passing within a conversation is acceptable. Directing people to a commercial site is not. Hope that explanation helps clarify!

Yes, it does clarify things. Sorry about the bad posts; won't happen again.

I'm really glad this site is here. I've found lots of useful information to help plan my cruise, and everyone's been very helpful.

Laura.. and we're delighted you found us and also delighted to hear you've found the site helpful. We're all very proud of the community here at CruiseMates.

If you've been investigating the site I'm sure you've found there is a huge archive of articles and information (which are constantly being added to), as well as readers reviews, Anne Campbell's reviews, and MANY other features aside from the helpful and friendly message boards.

I know in some cases first time visitors don't understand all the "rules of the road" or for that matter... why there are any.

Welcome Aboard!!!
