Default option to delete your own messages

I think it would be nice if there were an option on the message boards to delete one's own messages. You can edit your posts, but you can't delete them once they're made. That seems like it would be a good option.

Cheers,
Michelle B.

Michelle.. I have that feature. You dont? <G>

Seriously.. if you want to delete a post , easy enough. Just drop me an e-mail, or Jim Bragg, or Donna. I think there may be a couple of others.

Anyone who registers in the message board area has the option to delete their own messages.

Hi Michelle,
Yes, you should be able to delete your own message, the "delete" is right under "edit".

That's weird, I don't see it. (And yes, I am registered and logged in.) In the bottom right-hand corner of my post is "Reply To This Message" and below that "Edit My Post" but no delete.

If I click "Edit My Post" all I get is the editing screen and the "Update" button. No delete.

Any insight? Am I blind?

Cheers,
Michelle B.

I'm also seeing what Michelle has noted - no option to delete just reply or edit.

You can always just edit the post to have no message. Just highlite your words and hit the back button and suddenly you have no message. In addition you can always e-mail me or my staff and we will delete it for you after we make sure the request actually came from you. <VBG>

If we edit the message to make it "blank" will the staff delete it?

It'd just be nice to have this option ourselves so we don't have to bother the staff. I'm sure y'all have better things to do.

Cheers,
Michelle B.

I don't even have the option to edit my post much less delete it!

Never mind, I was looking for this under the "reply to this message" and then in another topic I saw the edit in the body of my reply! Thx!

Oh oh Marc, are you being a bad boy and the staff has to delete your posts, lol. I have had some posts disappear and they weren't bad posts either but I thought that maybe they just did not go thru, now I'm wondering. Hmmm.

Wew do not delete any message unless they violate the published rules. The only other time a post might get deleted is if it is in response to a post that violates policy and has to be deleted. If your post is in direct response to that post and attached to it then it may be automatically deleted. That is they was the delete program works and not intentional. Whenever we have to delete a post for violation of the TOS, (and we really hate to do it and take great pains to allow even borderline posts), it automatically deletes all of what it calls it's 'children', which is a computer talk for saying direct replies I guess.

I am really an advocate of cause and effect. Some action took place to remove a post. It just doesn't happen on it's own. It may have been unintentional, or the byproduct of another action, but something caused the effect.

I know Marc's post did not violate the rules.

Regards,
Thomas
