Since RCI is a supposely caseless system, what you recommend for shore excursions, dollars or Traveler Checks, and are Traveler Checks hard to cash in Nassau, St. Thomas, Laberdee? Do taxi cabs in these areas accept traveler's checks??? thanks for the advice
We just used good old American money on the islands that you have listed. I used a credit card for any larger items but I am sure you would be able to use travelers checks if you wanted to make a larger purchase. You can always cash your travelers checks on the ship so that you have cash for taxis, etc. I would be surprised if a taxi driver would take a traveler's check. On Labadee the only place that you can use money is in the market and they only accept cash. I hope this helps!
If you book an excursion through the ship it will be charged to your shipboard account. Taxis take cash, stores will take Traveler's Checks, i charge large ticket items. Don't carry a lot of cash on you. Go to the Purser's Desk and cash your travelers checks for what you feel you will need for the day.
