This might sound like a silly question, but if you pay for your shore excursion in advance, buy a soda card for the kids, are social drinkers (a glass of wine or a couple of beers a night), not big gamblers ($100.00) max between two for the week, what would be a rough estimate on the cost per day $$$ or $$$ per for the entire seven night cruise, with tips added. I understand everybody spends $$$ differently but I am just looking for a best guess/estimate? thanks for the imput
I agree. $100 per day is a good average. On our Zenith trip 12-22-02 our final bill was $1322 and that included a decent lithograph from the silly art auction. (That free champagne gets a lot of people to buy artwork.)
Actually this piece is quite nice. I can't wait till I get the bill from the frame shop. Ugh!
Now I feel better about the $2200 account bill I received at the end of my Marco Polo voyage. That was a 32-day trip, however, and included a dozen shore excursions, laundry, a few gift shop items, Internet charges and party catering. It works out to $68.75/day which isn't bad, considering the last half of the cruise fare was free. I didn't patronize the casino, though.
Some things which you may or may not use and which may incur extra charges:
* photography
* specialty restaurants
* catering for special events
* gratuities and donations
* Internet cafe
* art auctions
* corkage fees when you byob to dinner
* damage charges
* ship to shore or cablegrams
Don't forget the cost if you decide to go to the spa and have a massage, manicure, hair done, etc. That can get quite costly. Also, the cost of Speciality Restaurants on some of the ships.
I plan a budget of $50-$75 a day if that. I will pre book my excursions & will purchase a cocktail card for my drinks. I may go to the casino, but only to play the slots, maybe $20-$30. I heard that the Cruise photos are around $10 to start, I'm not sure how many I will purchase, but not many. I have a vacation envelope & the tips have been put aside. I don't plan on drinking soda, I don't even drink it often at home. I do plan to shop when I get to port in Nassau but I have an excurission planed so I won't have much time to shop which will cut down on spending. My cruise is only 3 nights so I feel my budget is realistic.
