Default teen with broken arm

we are a party of 6 on Voyager 2/23/03. Grandson just broke his wrist and will be in a cast. No water for him, should we just cancel? have trip insurance, will it honor all of us? 2 grandparents, mom & dad and brother. will he have any fun if he goes anyway?

Hi Annieg,
I wouldn't cancel the cruise because of this, I think your son will still have a wonderful time even with the broken arm. Very sorry to hear this happened right before the cruise, but there are still lots of other activities that will keep him busy and happy onboard.

Do let us know what you do decide to do and if you do go ahead with the cruise, have a great time!

Your teen will have fun!!! He can play at the video arcade, he can go to the teen center and talk with teens, he can go to the buffet and have fun eating. Buy him a soda card so he looks cool when he is hanging with teen friends. He will make lots of friends because the other teens will break the ice with him and ask him what happened to his arm.
He can go watch movies with his newly met teen friends. He can also dance hip hop with the other teens. No one holds hands anymore.

Does he have the cast on his left hand? If he does, then he can play ping pong with his good hand. I think even with the cast he can still play.

While he is in ports he can walk around and buy gifts for his friends at home. He can go for boat rides or bus tours to the piramids or whatever tours are being done.

He can sit in the jacuzzi with his hand covered in a plastic bag and taped on so it doesn't get wet.

He can fall in love with some girl and become pen-pals. But now a days they all do e-mails. This is the best reason for him going on this cruise even if he is only 13-17yrs.

Now why would you want to spoil everything by cancelling this cruise? I am a grandmother of two teens who are 14yrs. and 16yrs. old. We went on a Alaska cruise and we never used the pool because it was too cold. But see they still had fun.

Over 20 years ago my sister broke her arm right before a vacation to the Florida Keys - but that did not stop her. My parent bought some clear plastic bag , of water-proof tape and wrapper her up. The cast never got wet and she had a blast. I don't know if this would still be considered correct today.....but, it's a thought. I'm sure he will find plenty of things to keep him otherwise occupied. Have fun!

As a "Lefty", I must object a bit. If he has the cast on his right hand, he can still play ping pong with his "good hand"... his left! ()

Don't cancel... he'll have a ball and you'll hardly see him all week.

Well grandma, what do you think now? As you can see we are all for not cancelling your cruise because we all know your grandson will have the time of his life!! He may have more fun than the rest of you all. There are also top medical doctors on the ship in case he needs to see a doctor. My sister's life was saved by a Star Princess cruise doctor
when he diagnosed her has having a gall bladder attack. She had been complaining to her family doctor for two years. As soon as she got off the ship she saw a specialist who operated and found a gangreed gall bladder that could have killed her if she gone a few weeks longer with being diagnosed.

So you see, go and have fun and let us know how much fun you all had.
