Hello,
We are planning to cruise on the Voyager of the Seas on July 6. Have not yet booked air to Miami. We will be flying from NY and have only found direct flights with good fares on American. But we are worried about the bankruptcy situation. Can anyone help with other direct flights and/or bankruptcy info? As of this moment we are looking at 2 roundtrip tix from NY to Miami on American on July4 returning on July 14 for $395 total.
No jetBlue in Chicagoland, and I wouldn't hold my breath that you'll see them there anytime soon. They're copying the Southwest model, meaning they'll only serve airports with short ground times where they can turn aircraft around quickly. That leaves O'Hare out of the picture altogether, because as we all know, taxi times out to the runway and back are as long as some flights. Midway would be OK, but I have a hunch Southwest would throw up as many roadblocks as possible to low fare competitors at MDW.
Meigs might have been nice if Dicky D. hadn't sent the bulldozers in the middle of the night to, er, repurpose the runway. Why do you folks put up with that kind of high handedness?
My favorite jetBlue feature: nice leather seats with an LCD TV screen in each seatback, giving you inflight choice of something like 40 satellite TV channels. While you're on the ground, a graphic on the screen reads, "Sure beats looking at your tray table.'
Of course, nobody can beat what Southwest prints on its peanut bags: "Frills"
Except I guess they're not peanuts any more. They're amorphous snack mix bags that are guaranteed not to make anybody sick or trigger any allergies.
i would say book it - charge it to a major credit card, that way if anything happens you will be able to recover the charges. I don't think that American will go belly-up. I think they will most likely file Chapter 11 protection and reorganize.
Hopefully American will do like USAirways did. That is an excellent price to fly from NY to Miami. I live in Charlotte and it is sooo expensive to fly anywhere. I hate that. Like Lisa said, charge it just in case.
Donna, are you from Chicago? Whereabouts? Born and raised in Chicago Hts. Went to Bloom High School.
We love jetBlue. Last cruise I watched golf all the way down and all the way back. Karen watched music videos and bopped in her seat. The next flight down on May 10, we fly out at 6:00 AM so I don't expect to be watching too much golf. I'll have to find a good movie, or just bop to music videos with Karen. This time coming back, we're flying Southwest. This is a first for us. Can't wait for the "Frills." Come on May 10!!!
Thank you everyone for the responses. Seems like I got you all started on Jet Blue.
I have been reading this web site since we booked our cruise in January and I have never heard of Q.I.X.O. Can someone please enlighten me? Thank you in advance
Also just checked Southwest site and can't find any flights that leave from JFK and only fly into Ft Lauderdale.
Guess I really need more help than I thought I did!
