My father has been placed on a low sodium diet due to, "Doctor's Orders," resulting from 2 heart attacks. He is taking my entire family on a cruise in July. We are sailing on the non-smoking Paradise. Since food is prepared for thousands, is a ship capable of preparing low sodium diet meals??? Who would we contact - what is the procedure for communicating this request?? I am sure my dad is not the only one out there...
Location: Wisconsin....about 100 miles south of the Frozen Tundra and 70 miles east of Camp Randall
Re: Special Food Requests - Low Sodium Diet
Have your TA notify the cruise line via their special needs department; and then follow up with the maitre'd once on board. I have seen the wait staff bend over backwards to help people with special diets, even to the point of bringing the next nights menu out and going over menu items with the passenger involved. They will do all they can to accomodate your Dad.
