Default CVC (Cruise Value Center)

Has anyone booked a Group Cruise with CVC (Cruise Value Center)? Is this good way to book a group cruise? Should I just find a good TA to handle everything? I'd like to here some of your experiences booking a group cruise. Our group is approx 15-20 people, 6 to 10 cabins. Thanks

I have not booked a group cruise with CVC, but can give you my experience with them. I booked a cruise for some of my relatives with them (these relatives don't have internet access so I did the booking) and had a bad experience. They mixed up the names and credit cards and the TA they dealt with was very rude.

Of course, your experience may be different. But if I were you, I would consult a good TA who is experienced in dealing with group bookings.

I have had problems with rudeness from this company as well plus there is a penalty charged if you cancel any reservation after three days, reguardless of when final payment is due. I would post here on bargain finders or use an agent you trust, but that's just me.

They also will not lower your rate if the cruise goes down in cost. They say this on the left side of their home page.

I would avoid them for this reason.

I just wanted to add a note about CVC. Cruise Value Center is owned by Jeffrey Kivet, and they have been in the cruise business for a very long time and were leaders in innovating a lot of the group cruise practices you see today from so many capable travel agencies.

But on a personal note, Jeff's son, Spencer, passed away unexpectedly just 2 months ago at a far too young age. Spencer was an energetic, capable, spirited man - with exceptionally high ideals and lot of innovative ideas.

He will be missed, not only at CVC, but by the world and especially by those who knew and loved him personally.
