Is it true that the top decks of Carnival are reserved for topless sunbathing. We are considering a cruise on the Carnival Conquest, Spring 2004 (4th cruise, 1st on Carnival). I'm not too hip on topless sunbathing when traveling with a teenager.
I heard that. We were on the Conquest in June, but it did not seem to be a big interest item, nobody hardly mentioned it, so I don't think it is a big deal. It will go unnoticed unless you bring attention to it. Just don't tell the teenager maybe they won't find out.
Hi Kate I was on the Carnival Victory in Jan and the very top deck where the smoke stack is is were the topless sunbathing is. We went up there one afternoon to lay out (not topless) since all the other lower decks were taken up and there was one woman who was up there topless and I never heard anyone talk about it. Plus there was a bunch of people up there kids and adults and no one seemed to even notice, everyone was just drinking and having a good time. You really shouldnt worry about it.
CCL has topless decks that are off the main area and they are labeled as such. There are also signs that state minors are not allowed up there nor are cameras or other video equipment. As others have said, mostly it is a nice quite place away from the crowds with the occasional topless lady up there. After traveling awhile you, and more importantly your teenager, will come to pretty much accept toplessness in other countries and areas and it is no big deal.
I have a cousin that cruised the Imagination last summer and he said that the top deck was most definately topless with multiple women bearing all. However, I have not cruised Carnival so I can't say from personal experience.
I've cruised on CCL 4 times. 1st time did not even know there was topless, 2nd time there were 3 topless women, 3rd time none, 4th time none. Now the 2nd time was during spring break if that tells you anything! Happy sailing!
Hi Carnival reserves the top deck for this. If you are traveling during one of the Spring break weeks, check to see if the deck patrol is there to check on who is up there. It is an adults only area however depending on when and where you sail, that can change. Have fun
I just got back from the Carnival Pride a week ago and we found the topless deck by just exploring the whole ship; but there was no one in that area. It's not easy to find and there are signs posted. I've been on other Carnival cruises and that area seems to not be a "big deal" and not in the mainstream of things. I've seen women sunbathing topless by main pools of cruise ships before.
