we're staying at LA Quinta which provides a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, but I haven't heard of any that provide a free shuttle from the hotel to the port. We're a group of 12 people and we were told to get one or two van taxis that will charge us for the trip and not per person. I think the Holiday Inn also has a shuttle from the airport to the hotel (check their website and look for the one closest to the miami airport, I think it says that they have a free shuttle to the port). We've had good luck with the Holiday Inn Airport North in Miami. They offer free shuttles from the airport to the hotel as well as the from the airport to the pier (no shuttle from the pier back to the airport however). The pricing online is reasonable and it is a nice hotel. There is a restaurant on the upper floor and also has an outdoor pool. Try online but make sure you get the Airport North as there is also another Holiday Inn Airport hotel in Miami. Remember to book your shuttle to the pier at the concierge desk when you check in as although the shuttle is free you still have to book a time and pier in order for them to plan their schedule. In past we have booked the 10:30am shuttle (Royal Caribbean) which got us to the pier by 11:00am and on the ship well before lunch and the rest of the crowds. Sure takes some of the stress out of travel to get into miami the day before, stay at a quiet hotel, get up. have breakfast and get to the pier and on the ship for lunch. Also remember to copy down the phone number for the hotel as they are not listed on the courtesy phones at the airport terminal. You don't have to call for the shuttles as they run all day and night long, but if you get in at an odd hour you can call and they will send the shuttle for you if it is slow at that time. Around 35 going, adults only from our church. Our first time w/o kids. We are staying at the Days Inn at the airport and they offer free shuttle from the airport and to Port of Miami. Our group leader has done all the work for our wonderful trip. But on the Days Inn web site it told of the free shuttle service.

My question where do we pick up cars when we want to tour Miami? We get in early on Sat. and my husband and I are staying an extra day so we want to sight see. (frequent fly people and we can't go home with the group)

you can rent one (Alamo.com, Hertz.com) and pick it up at the airport, or sometimes they bring it to your hotel. Hope this helps.
