Default Alaska Fishing License

Where is the best spot to get an Alaska License? Can you get them at the airport in Anchorage?

Are you talking deep sea fishing license?? Any of the charter boat captains can fix you up.Two years ago we went did this and it was the highlight of our 6th Alaska cruise. The entire family caught the limit of salmon. It was expensive but oh so worth it. We chartered a boat for 1/2 a day and had such a blast, the fishing and the whales so close to our boat you could almost touch them. We did this in Juneau and it cost about $ 500.00 for the 4 of us...but well worth it.

Anne, in most states you do not need a license for off shore fishing while on a chartered expedition. The boat captain buys an annual license for the entire boat.

But you might find out specifically for Alaska on their web site in the Fisheries and Wildlife Department.

Thomas

Sorry Thomas,
You need to purchase a license for off shore fishing in Alaska.(more and more states are going this route to raise revenue for depleted state treasurys) My own state of North Carolina will most likely do the same thing if they haven't already. Nothings free anymore.

Darn, I hate to hear that. Here in Florida you don't have to buy a license (yet) for offshore fishing IF you are on a chartered boat, on a licensed pier, or a senior.

But if you are here on vacation and fish from the beach you need a license.

Thomas

Out of curiosity I checked the Alaska Fish and Game Commission web site and indeed, nonresidents 16 years of age and older must have a non-resident license to fish either fresh or salt water. The fee is:

1 day = $10
3 day = $20
7 day = $30

Regards,
Thomas
