Rough Weather

As a matter of interest what seems to be policy with Cruise Ships Companies dealing with bad weather?Do they maintain course?Ships have speed these days to be able to cope with variations and perhaps varying their course to stay clear of bad weather. I well imagine that the companies want us all to have a good time so they dont want to run into bad wheather.

Often, a ship will detour around bad weather, which can mean skipping or substituting a port.

Most times the captain will steer around a weather pattern or take an alternative route for passenger & crew safety, it is a very rare incident where a Captain will go thru a storm, unless there is no other alternative

My wife and I were visiting Newport RI last month and there were a couple of cruise ships anchored there unscheduled due to the hurricane that had hit Nova Scotia. We talked with some of the passengers and they were offered compensation for the diversion.
