I've read reviews that state you have to drop off your luggage and then go park. How far is the parking lot from where you drop off your luggage and board the ship? Is it within walking distance? Thanks!
Don't know what happened to my first response but since it didn't appear I'll try again.
Yes, it is within walking distance and a stone's throw. You drop off the luggage at the porter station then continue along the circular drive to the parking lot which is in the center of the terminal area.
There's been a lot of construction going on and it may be complete when you get there. But then it may still be messed up too. I was there in June and it was a bit confusing finding the right path but they had people directing traffic.
The Glory does NOT use the same dock as the Fantasy . It docks at the one that Royal Caribbean uses and does involve a bus ride as the parking is about a mile away.
I doubt that security would allow you to walk that mile even if you wanted to.
Drop off the bags, follow the signs to the parking lot , pay the man $ 84.00 ( $ 12. per day ) payable at time of parking, cash or credit card-- Then catch the shuttle bus back to the ship. It is not as bad as it sounds. Just have some patience and it will go well.
I was there a month ago and I doubt that it has or will change soon.
I suppose that when the Mariner OTS arrives, she and the Glory will arrive/depart on different days of the week. I read that the Mariner was turned over to RCCI at the shipyard yesterday, Oct. 29, and I believe she'll begin cruising from her Port Canaveral terminal in mid-November. Does anybody know if RCCI and CCL have reached an agreement as regards berthing, etc. at the RCCI facility, and will CCL be getting a new terminal for the Glory at any time soon? I'm a bit at sea <nothing new>! Move over, Thomas. <BG>
I would think that the Glory has to use the RCCL dock because of its size but that's just speculation on my part. I wish it ( Glory ) did use the same dock as the Pride did as that was a snap. Still, with some patience it's not a bad set up.
The Mariner will depart on Sundays---the Glory departs on Saturdays.
I was there last Oct. and it was $10. per day. I was there a few weeks ago and it was $12. per day. Yes it has went up. No it's not different rates for different ships--just price increases by the port .
We are picking up our tickets at the Port as we just made them last week. Normally, we have the baggage name tags on our bags, give to porters and we are all done but this time we won't have the tags until we go in the terminal. I was thinking to just go ahead and make our own tags with State Room numbers written on them. Any suggestions?
If you don't receive your baggage tags pretty soon, I would call your TA or the cruise line. I have doubts as to whether the porters are allowed to accept luggage that doesn't have the line's official tags attached, but I could be wrong. Your idea about making up your own tags sounds logical, but I'd check it out first just to be on the safe side. Good luck, and have a great cruise!
