Default What to wear?

We are taking a cruise over Christmas on a Caribbean Princess ship (Western Caribbean) and are combining it with another couple of weeks in the Caribbean. Do we need to take Evening wear (Suit / evening dress) for dinner?

As you might have guessed this is our first cruise.

Many thanks

Jon

Hi Jon and Linda,
Yes, you will need some "formal" wear for 2 evenings if you are going on a 7 day cruise, the remaining 5 will be casual.

I may get tarred and feathered for this, but take one outfit for the two formal nights on your cruise. You do NOT have to have Tux and Evening Gown.....dark suit and cocktail or tea dress are perfectly acceptable, as are dressy pant suits. Or even dark slacks and glittery blouses. Even regular suits are becoming acceptable for formal nights though some really hate that. Who cares if you wear the same outfit twice? Really no one cares - and if they do, they need to get a life!

Princess has relaxed their evening dress recommendations with the advent of Personal Choice cruising. As Lisa mentioned and especially since this cruise is during the holidays, plan to bring one formal outfit at least. A black evening skirt or pants works out very well with different formal tops for ladies and a suit for the man is perfect. All other evening are smart casual like if you were going out to a decent restaurant on a Summer's evening. Shorts and tank tops are not recommended.
Bon voyage

If you have a long black or navy blue skirt top it with a silk blouse, a sparkly blouse a brocade jacket, and dress heels- perfect outfit for two nights. If you have a really nice cocktail dress, a suit, or dressy pants, top them with the silk or sparkly blouse and you will be fine. Men are just fine in a dark suit, dress shirt, tie & dress shoes, suit separtes are fine as are bandless collarless dress shirts with stud covered buttons.
