Default When to book?

We would like to take our next cruise in probably 2006 to Alaska, Hawaii or New England. This will be to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. I've seen on these forums where people are booked for 2005 already. Our previous cruises we've booked anywhere from 3-6 months in advance. How early should we consider booking our next cruise? Do you save any by booking so early? Any suggestions as to which destination would be better?

Thanks!!

I agree with Mike, we like to book about a year in advance, that way we can usually get the exact stateroom that we want. Book with an experience TA and make sure that your TA lets the cruise line know you will be celebrating your anniversary. As for your destinations, since you mentioned New England i am guessing that you are planning on cruising in the fall? Fall in New England is beautiful, it can be chilly. If you are looking for a warm tropical cruise then pick Hawaii. Haven't been to Alaska (yet) I would think that Alaska would be better in late spring or summer.

Ditto what the others have said.

Cruising in Hawaii will be a lot of sea days if you leave or return from the States. Keep this in mind.

If you want a specific cabin you will need to book early. A year early or so. Alaska is very popular and with the limited season the cruises fill up fast. You may be able to get some last minute discounting but you take a chance.

Regards,
Thomas

Book as early as you can. It's a win win situation. Your price will not go up....but if cruise price goes down, you get the difference back. YOU check for price drops. Don't rely on your TA to do that cause they probably won't.

I book as early as possible.Usually, you can get good rates but on Celebrity you are price protected so you can't lose.
