I was just wondering where the best location for a cabin selection is. I have heard aft for view and midship for less vibration. Is this true on all ships. Always love having a balcony but not sure on cabin placement. Thanks for any help.
Each ship is different, but in general, you might get more vibration/noise in an aft cabin. The views are great on most balconies. I have had balconies towards the bow, towards the stern and aft. I prefer the aft. The noise/vibration doesn't bother me and it's less windy. I love staring off into the wake of the ship! My favorite category is the BB on Princess. They are larger than the standard balconies.
I have seen some I wouldn't like:
- the very first one at the front of the ship on any deck, if they stick out beyond the side, like on the Grand/Golden Princess. I would think they would be quite windy.
- totally exposed balconies that lack privacy and have no roof to protect from rain
Once you select a ship/itinerary, you can check the boards, or talk to a travel agent or the cruiseline to get more info about the specific cabin you are looking for.
Yes, it pretty true on most ships, the more midship, the less feel of any moving or vibration. I too love the aft cabins, but like you mentioned, as long as you have a balcony, thats what counts.
