There is a discussion over on the RCL message board that is discussing tipping and those who do and do not. I believe in tipping. I have taken 7 cruises and have always tipped at least the recommended amount. On the last two cruises I tipped extra to my waiter and assistant in the dinning room.
What I always have been told is customary is $3.50 per person per day for my waiter, $2.75 per day for the assistant waiter/bussperson, $3.50 per day for the cabin steward/attendant. I have always looked upon this amount as the cruise industry standard and if I recieve exceptional service then I go above and beyond at my discression.
Princess and Carnival, the last two cruises I went on automatically add it to your shipboard account.
So am I cheap tipping the minimum and some extra for better than average service or should I be tipping much more?
There has been quite a lively discussion about this on the "tipping" message board - you might want to read over there, too.
