Default Currency Conversion Charge

Hi,
I've just recieved my cruise docs, Royal Caribbean, and noticed on the SeaPass Account portion, (the bit for the charge account) there is a "currency conversion service charge".
This is for non-USA citizens that have credit cards in other currencies. I'm a Brit .

Does any one know what this charge is? is it a percentage or set fee?

There is an opt-out box so my credit card can be charged in US dollars instead of pounds.

Thanks

Peter T
