Default tampa & new orleans

Hi all,

We're looking to cruise out of either Tampa or New Orleans this August. Will probably be booking our own airfare, and we are looking for any helpful tips regarding transportaion to and from the pier. We were also looking at staying in a hotel the night before departure (any suggestions). Does anyone know of any hotels that provide transportation to the pier? Or even a shuttle from the airport to the hotel?

Any info would be helpful. We have cruised 3 times before, but have always booked air through the cruise line. Looking to save a little more money this time!

Tampa has several hotels that are close to the pier. Most offer a shuttle service to the pier. Upon return you will have no problem getting a cab to the airport. it is about a 20min. ride to the airport from the pier. A couple of hotels downtown are only a few minutes from the pier. If they don't offer shuttle service, I think a cab from downtown is only about $10.00. Enjoy your cruise

If you use Priceline, you can get the Grand Hyatt for about $56. (The normal rack rate for this hotel is close to $200 per night.)This is a beautiful four star property near the airport. Ask for "The Casitas" upon check in. These are beautiful very private condo-like rooms on the grounds. There are streams, trails, a bird sanctuary with a beautiful boardwalk, and lots to see and do right there. "Oystercatchers" is an outstanding seafood restaurant right on Rocky Pouint. It is casual yet elegant. The food is amazing and only surpassed by the service.

Taxis to the cruise terminal are very reasonable, less than $20. They do provide a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel. They do not however offer free transfer to the cruise terminal but as I said, the taxi fare is not bad.

After you cruise, you can get a transfer to the airport for $9 per person as you are leaving the cruise terminal.

I hope this helps.
