Can any one give me advice on how to get to Skagway from Vancouver? We want to take the White Pass Railroad in Skagway but our ship does not stop at that port. We can go to Vancouver several days before our cruise and hopefully make the round trip to Skagway and back in time for our cruise. Any advice would be welcomed.
Thanks , Sea Wings

Re: Vancouver to Skagway. HELP???
Yeesh, this a hard one!!! Skagway does not have a large airport, the drive there would take way too long and you can't drive directly from Vancouver (on an island) to Skagway (on the mainland.) I don't think the Alaska Maritime Ferries go to Vancouver. I don't know how much money you want to spend, but I do know it would be VERY expensive to get to Skagway from Vancouver within the time frame you give.
Carnival Breeze with Ray B and Aerogirl 5/4/14!
The Alaska ferries also stop, and there is one from Prince Rupert BC a few times a week or once a week from Bellingham Wash. http://www.dot.state.ak.us/amhs/ Those are both time consuming and to fly is expensive. You could drive, but it's 3 LONG days each way.
And no, Vancouver is not on an island, it is quite firmly on the mainland the last time I checked!
You'll enjoy Alaska even if you don't get to Skagway. Just curious, it's not possible to change your itinerary?
If you fly into Whitehorse, consider checking into finding a way go go to Carcross (I think that is correct). You can take the railroad from there into Skagway. One thing I'm not sure of is what to do with luggage (I just thought of that) .
