It should run about $12 and there is no extra charge for luggage or extra passengers.
The cabs are metered and you will be "guided ' to the next available at the curb by a
"starter" at curbside. The trip is only about 10 minutes maybe a few minutes more if they hit a few lights.
That sounds a bit high to me. (I have been scammed a few time at Ft Lauderdale). Make sure the meter is running and it comes out to about $7.50 (it is only 5 mninutes away). But I have had a few cabbies tell me it's a flat fee: $12
Florida cabbies are NOT well regulated. Watch yourself and the meter.
I am the editor, but I also speculate, ask questions and play devil's advocate. I reserve the right to change my mind.
We decided to do this transfer ourselves many years ago, after finding out the taxi fare
including tip, is no greater than $10.00, from the airport to the pier or hotel. We always
stay at the Marriott Mariner the night before. This price was good thru last year (2003).
Just ask the cabbie the average meter rate at the airport. If it is any higher, you might want to check to see if the driver is using the meter or just charging you a flat rate.
