Default Night swimming?

Is night swimming allowed on most cruise ships (specifically NCL)? If so, are the pool areas as crowded at night as in the daytime?

The only cruise line that I know has 24/7 swimming pools is Princess. Only down for maintenance. I have taken a midnight swim in their pools more than once and really enjoyed it!

I'm almost sure I read that RCI ships have 24/7 swimming.

On the NCL cruises that I've been on, they close the pools down in the evening.

Thanks for the replies. Fasteddie, about what time in the evening do the pools close down? I'm just curious because I'm not particularly a sun worshipper but would enjoy a swim and was thinking/hoping that perhaps I could do that in the evening hours (not necessarily a midnight swim although that sounds like fun) and hopefully the pool area would not be so crowded either. I'm particularly interested in the NCL Star.

Thanks~

I don't think the pools are big enough for anything other than dipping.

Carnivals and Celebritys close at 8 pm. Hot tubs are open later. They cover them up at night so no one can fall in. I think the hot tubs were open to 9 pm.

Hi everyone! I am going on Enchantment of the Seas 8/21. I was wondering if there is any night swimming aboard this ship. If not, do you know what time the pools and hot tubs close for the night? Thanks!

CeeCee,

I've not been on the Star, so I don't really know. All I know is that between early dinner, the show, a trip to the casino, and midnight snacks, the pools close down. <G> Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Most ship pools close by 8 PM for safety reasons. You have a lot of people walking around the decks at night, nightly deck parties, kids running around (I know, they do that during the day) and people drinking. It would be a high-risk to leave the pools open and have someone fall in. I have been on RCCL and NCL and neither has had pools open at night. Although a late night swim would be so wonderful on the open seas with the stars above you!
