My guess would be that you would have a better chance of upgrading in the fall instead of the summer. My ship goes out next month and we haven't had any upgrading. I was suppose to be on the lowest level also. I just upgraded ourselves yesterday about five flights higher.

I was wondering about upgrading our reservation also...Sometimes when you upgrade at a hotel you get a better deal than if you had booked that class of room in the first place, is that the same on cruises or will you always just pay the difference if you upgrade?

I have done 8 cruises, I have never been upgraded. I have 2 more in the fall,
I guess you have to be lucky for a upgrade. It the luck of the draw.

Did you book Guarantees or a particular cabin? They do not normally upgrade you if you selected a cabin unless they are really empty and then they may offer you something.
I am sailing on July 4 on the Majesty out of boston, I booked a superior inside guarantee, I was immediately, " upgraded" to a smaller outside cabin, I called my agent and they were able to put me back into a superior Inside which is what I needed, since there were no more Handicapped cabins available, [there are only 4 onthat ship]
So not all upgrades are welcome.

hi, i am booked for the caribbean princesss dic 4 04, i reserved cabin R515 which is bigger than other inside cabins and is one deck below the pools, my question is since this cabin is directly below one of the pools would you recomend i upgrade or should i stick with this one because of the size and location. my worries are of noise.
thank you

I was wondering about upgrading too.
We are going to Alaska on the Star July 11th.
We book our cruise and chose and inside cabin for budget reasons. However, in recent weeks the budget has looked very good and we could "swing" an outside cabin or even a mini suite. How do you go about getting upgraded? Our dear TA (we did not pick her b/c we are cruising w/ a group of friends and one of our friends uses her regularly) is lame. I called her a week or so ago and asked about upgrades and she said there was only the "garden suite" available ($$$$$$$$$). But since she hasn't really been "on the ball" I am not sure how agressively she will persue my request.
I guess we may have to settle.....at least all of our friends in the group booked the mini suites right across the hall from us......hope they don't mind sharing that balcony!

NM... go onto the website and see if there are any cabins available that you'd want. Get the cabin # and call the TA and ask her to quote you how much it would be to upgrade. Tell you KNOW it's available... how much? If you don't get anywhere with her, or you'd rather wait, you can ask when you go through embarkation about availability. You can upgrade right there at pier.
