Default traditional vs choice

HI-
This is our 9th cruise--will be going on Star on Oct 30th---but as old cruisers---we are not used to the choices in dining. Can someone help us decide on what to choose?? We enjoy our formal nights and even on semi-formal nights we tend to dress up also. We do our casual nights well---but we just don't understand how these dining experiences differ.

Thanks in advance
Ms Kitty

We prefer the personal choice on Princess. The "Traditional" choice doesn't work real well because a lot of people explore other choices eventhough they are supposed to have a set table each night. Many people end up seated with no table companions.

Just ask to be seated at large tables each evening so you can meet new people each night. If you find people that are compatable, make plans for future evenings at the restaurant of your choice.

Sabatini's is great for dinner and Brunch on the Star! Have fun!

The menu and dress code are the same. You can find a congenial group and make plans to eat with them each night. You can also request a particular waiter if you find one you like. You get all the advantages of traditional dining without the restrictions.

The choice is what time and where you will eat.

Traditional means you eat in the same dining room at the same time with the same people & waiters every night.

Freestyle is just like on land -- you pick when & where. When you get there you can ask for a table for two or you can ask to be seated at a table to share & they'll seat you at a big table with other people. If you make friends during the voyage you can get together with them for dinner.

Most people like it.

choice, that's the beauty of it. You can choose traditional seating - book it early as it fills up fast, or you can choose Anytime Dining- works just like a land-based restaurant. If you choose Anytime Dining its sometimes a good idea to make a reservation especially if you want to dine during "peak" dinner hours.

You can call and have them switch you now or once you get on board. Personal choice is just SO MUCH better. YOu can do a completely traditional and yet have it under personal choice.
This last cruise my husband and I had a particular table in the corner by a window with the same waiters at a time of our choosing for the entire ten days, just the two of us.
It was heavenly.

Traditional Dining fills up very fast, its only in one dining room. Not unusual to get wait-listed for Traditional Dining. If you want to change to Anytime Dining, i think you can do it either on line or by calling Princess. As a courtesy to those on the waitlist, please don't wait until you are on board to make your dining choice changes.
