Is there facilities available to put pictures on cd from digital cameras on board ship?

Mike,
Most of the ships photography departments now have facilities to transfer digital media to CD. They can handle the media for most types of digital cameras including Sony Memory Sticks and Smart-media cards.

From your subject title, I do not know if they can trasfer them to DVD format. I imagine that with the cost and availability of RW DVD drives it may be, or soon will be available.

I am not sure what the exact charge for this is but I know it is more than you could do it for at home.

Take care,
Mike

Is there a cost to transfer them to CDs? I mean, do you do it yourself or does the photography department staff take care of it?

I'd love to be able to take countless pictures and just bring home CDs, rather than going through them on board and deleting ones in order to create memory space.

There is a charge to do this and the photography department does it. You drop off your media and at a later time you pick up your media and the CD. I am not sure what the charge is but I do know it is done.

Take care,
Mike

My wife and I are bringing our very old and slow lap top with us so that we can download all our photos onto it. It has about 3 gig or storage left so we shouldn't run out of space.
But I would be interested in finding out if the ship can write them to the much safer CD media.
