So, is this true or not. I am cruising Carnival Inspiration. IF I leave the tip amount on my S & S account, whatever I hand them in cash is theirs to keep and don't have to pool? I just want to make sure I fully understand. I was going to have the tip removed from my account, because if I get good service, I will tip well beyond what is expected. But, I read somewhere that if you do clear the tip from your S & S account , they have to pool their cash tips, BUT, ifI leave the recommended tips on my S & S , whatever I hand them extra is cash is theirs to keep all to theirself....Is this true?
As I said on the CCL board. it is up to the individual shipboard staff as to how they handle and devide the tips. Most CCL ship the person gets to keep all tips allocated to his/her station and they are not divided equally. This includes tips in auto-tip and elsewhere. On those tips that the crew shares the tips, they put everything in, including what they are given in cash, and the head of the department divides it up.
Whoa! they pool the S&S card tips? So if I didn't like the service of my steward, took his tip off my S&S account and gave him a lower amount in cash then he may STILL get money from the pool? Even if he was lousy? Is this correct?
I wouldn't advise calling cards. Giving them assumes you know your steward or waiter has someone *to* call. Not always the case.

No, the do not all get an equal share. I have only seen this, (pooling of tips), done on one ship in the CCL fleet and there is no telling if that ship still does it or not. Mostly the people you tip get the amount you specify. I would say always but there is no such thing as always. <G> Also it is very inportant that you fill out the comment cards at the end of the cruise and if someone has done something nice or well then praise that person. Also if someone failed you in some way, make a note of that as well. The staff really read those things and take them to heart.
