discount

Just received a discount for my Oct. cruise. I already booked months ago and now the travel agent is telling me the price was lowered. My trip was discounted a couple of hundred dollars. I am not complaining but I find it odd. Did this ever happen to anyone? How can there be huge savings on a cruise and not on any other Carnival ship at that time. Is there something I don't know about that they are not telling me? thanks Dee

Re: discount

I've heard that sometimes a price will drop if the cruise isn't selling as fast as they would like. Oct. is off season so sometimes the prices will go down too--i'd be grateful.--heck no estatic!!!

There was also a fee of $100.The travel agent said it was a transaction fee? I tried to ask Carnival and they had no idea. The travel agent said that they do not get the money. She said I was saving a couple of hundred so it was worth the fee. I can't understand why there would be a fee. What do you think? Dee

A fee? Sounds like your TA might be stringing you along. Was it an "administrative fee?"
If so, it's a fee from your TA, not Carnival.

Port fee, maybe?

This means you have one terrific travel agent. Lowering the fare happens frequently, but many agents don't bother to check if fares go down.

Sounds great to me. One time we had booked an inside cabin near some friends. But about a month before the sail date, the TA called to say that he got me upgraded to an outside cabin and we got back $100 apiece. Boy, were my friends jealous! Haven't had an inside cabin since. <G>

the fee could be an administrative fee. Any discount is a good discount, don't worry, be happy about it.

When they adjust your price down they also adjust the commission to your TA down as well. If the TA turn around and charges you a $100 fee, I think that stinks and I'd raise holy h***.
