Default Emergency contact while aboard ship

Hi All,

My work is insisting that I provide them an emergency contact number while I am onboard the Carnival Pride in two weeks. Does anyone know this information? I called Carnival, but the delays for phone calls are very long, I assume due to post hurricane clean-up. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I found a website that lists the phone numbers of all the ships. www.icruise.com On the front page it says ship contact...click on that & it will take you to a listing of all the ships' phone numbers. Hope this helps.

Your cruise documents will have contact numbers for the ship.
Be sure to give your office the satellite phone number, they may think
twice before needing you at 10 dollars a minute.

Happy cruising

Did you find the # Dalech? If you can't find it on your docs, it's on the Carnival website. Tell your boss that not only is it $10/minute, but he/she needs to have their credit card ready! Hope you don't get any work calls!

Here is the contact information for Carnival: They will need to know that you are on the Carnival Pride:

Friends and family may call guests onboard via Maritime Telecommunications Network (MTN) Shore-to-Ship telephone service. The rate is $9.50 per minute from the United States; additional long distance charges may apply from outside the United States.

The caller needs to have available the ship name and the guest's name. The charges will be applied to the caller's credit card: MasterCard - Visa - American Express - The Discover Card - Diner's Club. 1-877 CCLSHIP (1-877-225-7447) from the U.S. 1-732-335-3284 from Canada and outside the U.S.

Take care,
Mike

Thanks all, unfortunately if they call me we have a multi-million dollar system down, and it's likely been down for hours at that point so I doubt $10 a minute will matter. On the other hand if I can't be located, well... <VBG>

Only because I have been involved in the application from it's inception in our company, and have seen just about every possible problem with it so there is a pretty good shot I could figure it out based on the errors in the logs.

LisaK:
You would be amazed at how many problems can and have been fixed via phone support. There should be and probably are other people that could figure out the problem and fix it but when time is money a few minutes can mean a major loss of revenue and customer satisfaction.

Let's say you needed money from an ATM and the ATM network was down. Would you prefer that the ATM stayed down for 20 minutes or one hour. Or a company was unable to take orders via there online order system. The company would lose quite a bit of revenue in that 40 extra minutes.

No one is indispensable and there should always be competent backup personnel in place to cover a situation but in the event of a MAJOR problem it is worth it to the company to use the best person they have to correct the problem. The key is to have management who has the judgement as to when the problem is major and when to utilize that person.

Take care,
Mike(Who has been on both the management and tech side of this issue)
