Pre Hurricane winds usually begin about 12-24 hours before it makes landfall. Post-Hurricane winds come from the tail end of it as well.
Ivan is expected to be in around Cuba by this Friday, but they do not know if it is going in the gulf or the Atlantic.
You won't have a problem in two weeks. Ivan will be long gone. But check for others that may come off Africa.
You will always have to check for hurricanes this time of year. It takes about a week from when they come off the coast of Africa until they make landfall somewhere in the US. Keep this in mind.
