We stayed at Summerfield Suites in Miami. They had a free shuttle to the airport and to the cruise pier. They were a little pricy to book direct but the second time we went we got lucky and they were one of the hotels that we booked off of Hotwire.com and it was only 45.00 per night. It is truly lovely. Just my two cents

Chicklet:
I would try Priceline and bid for a 3* in the Downtown zone. You will probably end up with the Radisson Biscayne Bay, Hyatt Downtown, or Sheraton Biscayne Bay. All are close to Bayside Marketplace and less than a $10 cab ride to the port. Many people, including myself, have been successful bidding $50 - $60.

Take care,
Mike

I just booked at the Days Inn-Civic Center. Free shuttle from airport and to the pier, $65.00 per nite. I figure as long as its clean I can stand anything for less than 12 hours. Internet shows booked, but I called direct and they said they have plenty of rooms.

Hi Cathy, that's where we were going to stay, but after some searching I didn't get any good reviews about the place. It's very hard to decide where to stay when you don't know the area,as I don't!This is our first cruise and everything is soooo new.Good luck with your stay at the Days Inn.

I, also, use the Days Inn-Civic Center. It's not Buckingham Palace, but probably as nice as 75% of the places in Miami without paying $100+ a night. The airport and port shuttle service is worth $35 by itself. Of course, you can go 1st class for a good price thru Priceline. It doesn't always work, but I've found on a few occasions, you can contact the 1st class hotels directly and inquire about the quality of the room that was quoted to you on Priceline, and they will make you a deal, without actually using Priceline, thereby saving you the Priceline booking fee while still getting a deal. It never hurts to ask. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
