How safe is a safe in your stateroom ? I know how it work but I am still
a bit leery about putting my money in a room safe.Have there been any stories
about people having there money stolen from the room safe?
I have never had any problems and know of no one that ever has. They only way they can access your safe is with security and even then it takes two people so your room steward for example just could not open it while you are not there.
We've never had a problem with our safe, until DH put in the wrong combo and we couldn't get it open....had to call security to open it for us, but they came up right away....Other than that, its the best place to keep the extra cash and credit cards along with the airline tickets and passports.
We've never had a problem with the safe......always leave money, passports & airline tickets.........jewlery also........like Donna said......don't put the wrong number or card in....you have to call security but they come right away & open it for you......
My safe story,
Our first port we left the room and got in a taxi to go shopping about 20 min for the port. About half way there, I couldn't remember if we shut and locked the safe or not. Hubby left me to shop and had to return to the ship to check. Luckly we did lock it, but better safe than sorry.
I'm at a loss to think of a better alternative. We use the safes on ships and in hotel rooms all the time. I've never, ever heard of anyone having a problem. I'm trying to devise a plausible scenario which would make a room safe aboard a ship an attractive target. But I can't.
Unless you think Jim Phelps and the Impossible Mission gang might be on your cruise, I think you should relax and enjoy yourself.
Maybe I'm naive, but half the time I don't even remember locking the safe. I've never had anything stolen on a HAL ship. I've forgotten personal items such as my camera by the pool or in a restaurant, and it was always returned to the front desk. I am a single traveller and I have never felt safer than I do on a ship. I guess I should be more careful.
