Default cash money

I know this a question that has lots of possibilties but how much real cash does a person need? Can I use my visa at most shops on the islands? Besides for tips and some friendly poker what would I need cash for? Will they cash travaler checks on the boat and how much does that cost?

Thanks for any help

Keep about $10 per day per person for tips. You won't tip this much each day but you may need it for "walking around money" in the ports. You know, to buy a post card, suntan lotion, a snack, etc.

Everything else can be put on your credit card. Chips for the casino can be put on your onboard charge card as will all purchases on the ship.

Hi Pudgy,
You can cash travelers checks onboard for no charge, although there is a limit I think, we just usually figure out all the tip money and put that aside and take more money than we really need, but its OK to bring some back home, better have it and not worry about ATM's and cashing checks. They will also cash 2 personal checks for a total amount of around $450 for the entire cruise, so thats good to know just in case.
