London trains to Southampton, England
I am looking for information on how to take the train from London to Southamton, England to get on our cruise ship in May of 2005. I am looking for links and how does one check in luggage on a train? Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Oh gosh, lets see if I can remember it. What you will probably have to do is pick up your tickets and the train at the Liverpool Station in London. I don't remember them offering to do anything with our bags and we loaded them ourselves on our train. If this is to a cruiseship they often have 'special' trains that they place into service. Google "British Rail" and they should be able to give you the information. In addition you can sometimes just book through your TA as part of your cruise. We did our own and actually saved 50% AND beat the other train there as ours was non-stop but that was to Harwich.

Hi Diana,

I am from Manchester in England. The website that you need to look for train times/details in the uk is This should give you the info you require. In the UK you don't need to check your luggage on a train just book your ticket, turn up and go.

Any questions please feel free to email me.

Here's the link that you need. It should tell you everything that you need to know, including dates, schedules, and prices. You should book from the USA, before you leave, since the price is cheaper.

Re: London trains to Southampton, England

Frequent service on the UK railways London-Southampton.
None offers checked luggage however....
The Cruise company surely has a " transfer " service you
can buy, which includes luggage transfer as well as your transportation.
It is worth the money, by a long shot.....still a minute expense when
compared with the total cost of your trip.
