Default Senior discount

Can any one tell me if any cruise lines give senior discounts for over 65? I have been on cruise and dinner table mates said they had gotten one. I asked my travel agent about them and she said you could usually get better rate with out senior discount. Any help? Thanks in advance

My parents received an AARP discount on Carnival. This was after we were given the price. It wasn't much, I think only $30 each, but that's almost half of the suggested gratuities.......every dollar counts. Try asking for rates, then ask if there's a senior discount.

They often run specials for Seniors but we have found that many times there are other programs and discounts that add upo to the same and sometimes even better. Ask your TA if you can get the price down because you are a senior. It never hurts to ask!

Royal Caribbean offers Senior discounts on many of their cruises. It's not always available at the time of booking, but have your agent check rates periodically by bringing up "promos" on the agent's booking site. Only one person in the cabin has to be over 55, in order to qualify for this discount. The Senior rates are usually less expensive than the Resident's rates, which they also offer.
A good agent will keep an eye on the various bookings he/she has, and frequently check on different promos that may become available and apply to that booking.
I had clients sailing on a Christmas/New Years cruise on the Voyager, and they were originally booked in a cat. H cabin (outside cabin).Royal Caribbean offered a last minute balcony category for a lower price than the outside cabin. My clients sailed in a balcony cabin and received an additional $500.00 credit on their credit card.
Yes, my commission was lowered by this, but I will have the clients loyalty, and that is more important in the long run.

The rates aren't lowered on every cruise, but it does happen frequently. Maybe you should check the rates yourself and then tell your agent. I know plenty of agents who find this too time consuming, and don't ever check after deposit or final payment is made.

NCL amost always has senior rates. Rarely can I beat a senoir rate cruise. Don't live in Flordia so don't know about resident rates much.
