stateroom category

I took your advise and we picked a destination first now we are looking at different ships and prices. I keep running into pages asking what category stateroom I want. What is the difference and what do the letters stand for?

The first number or initial usually stands for the category -- for example, an 8D is a balcony on Carnival. the second initial stands for the deck you will be on, or the location on a deck ... for instance, cabins midship usually have a higher initial, such as an 8B.

The higher decks usually net higher category cabins.
