CRUISE STAFF -NEEDTAX HELP PLEASE!!! - AMERICAN CITIZENS
Hello to anyone who may be able to help!!!!!
So I am currently the Stage Manager / Lighting Technician for Holland America Cruise Lines. It's that time of year again when Americans need to File there income taxes with the IRS. Being this is my first year w/ Holland America I have not yet filed with them as my employeer. I am Lost as to the in's and outs of working in International Waters. I know that I have had Federal Taxes with held from my paychecks but I just found out that the company has not been taking out Social Security or Medicare. AM I SCREWED now and do I have to pay it???
Does ANYONE know of any TAX ACCOUNTANTS that Have worked with cruise ship employees????????
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED ....... THANKS IN ADVANCE.

You need to talk to a Tax Specialist, and I don't mean someone from H&R Block or other tax return office. You may also talk to the IRS or go online for assistance. I don't think you have to pay SSN while working 'outside' the USA but you better be safe than sorry.
