Default Waitlist for 6:15 dinner seating

We have been waitlisted for the 6:15 p.m. dinner seating on Holland America's Maasdam. Before we made our final payment on our cruise to Canada @ New England we had brought a note to our travel agent from our doctor saying that having dinner at an earlier time was highly recommended since my husband had had a heart attack less than one year ago. What are the chances of us getting off of the waitlist for the 6:15 dinner seating and should we speak directly to the Maitre' d and show him a copy of the note from the doctor if we are assigned the 8:15 or 8:30 dinner time.

Your chances should be pretty good. You might try calling the special needs department at HAL and see if they can weigh in on your behalf before the start of the cruise.

Agree with Lisa about calling the special needs department at HAL. Also, do you know what number on the wait list you are?

Thank you Lisa and Cali-croozer. I called Holland America today and was told that the maitre'd always saves spots in the early seating for people that have to eat early for health reasons. Because of my husband's health, plus the note from the doctor, our names go at the top of the waitlist. The more we travel the more we definitely learn the ins and outs of how things are handled in the cruise industry.
