Default Room upgrade

Our travel agent told us we could inquire with the purser after boarding about a room upgrade. We've never traveled with this cruise line before. Do you have a recommendation on what to say or how to approach the purser?

Many ships sail completely full these days, but if a room is available, it's usually not a bargain to upgrade. I have heard that it would be the difference between the price you paid and the regular price of the room you would want to upgrade too. OUCH! If you don't think you'll be happy with the room you chose, I would try to see about upgrading before you get on the ship. However, I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask the purser, "are there any upgrades available?"

Pretty much a rule of thumb is that an upgrade would go to a regular cruiser. It is true that most ships are sailing full these days.

A good rule of thumb is that you should always book at least the minimum cabin you are willing to deal with, and then count yourself lucky if you get the upgrade.

Other than that - I would ask my TRAVEL AGENT to ask about the upgrade at the last minute rather than waiting until you get on board.

On Carnival does anyone know if you book say an inside cabin on the lido deck are you still elligible for an upgrade or would you only get an upgrade when you book an inside guarantee room?

Chances are that if you book a specfic cabin they assume you want that a reason and should only move you if you agree.

24 cruises and counting!
