I am trying to figure out what is best........buying insurance cruise line offers or going through an independent company. Is Travel Guard a reputable company? Any advise on cruise vs. private insurance?
Private insurance usually covers more and is cheaper, unless you are older. For example, my parents are in their 80's and insurance was going to be very expensive so they took the cruiseline insurance, knowing they wouldn't have as much coverage, but, at least, something. Travel Guard is the company my TA recommended, and has dealt with in the past, and the price in going through my TA or throughTravel Guard direct was the same. I did some research through insuremytrip.com before deciding which company to purchase from. Remember, for pre-existing medical coverage to be included, you must purchase within a certain amount of days after initial booking (usually 10-14 days......varies by company)
