Default Casino- Inside passage

This is probably a dumb question.
Does the casino close or stay open while cruising the inside passage?
Does the ship need to be in international waters for the gift shops to be open too?
Thanks

It isn't a dumb question at all. And I don't have the answer because I don't remember even though I worked on a ship for 6 weeks in Alaska (we weren't allowed to gamble as employees). -- Sorry!

As far as I can remember, as soon as the ship left the dock, the casino was open. Anytime the ship was moving, the casino was open. It was only closed while in port.

Trekker:

Not dumb at all, I had the same question before I sailed the Inside Passage.

The majority of the Inside Passage and Gulf of Alaska is considered International waters and the casinos will be open about 1 hour after leaving the ports.

On our Alaska cruise, on Mercury, there were a large number of Asian gamblers aboard and they made even, our Features Editor, Kuki look like a "Low Roller". <VBG>

Take care,
Mike

My question is...why would you WANT to be in the casino when cruising the Inside Passage?
