Default Pet Cruises

I am sure that this is a silly question, but my wife asked me to ask. Is there any cruiselines (cruises) that allow passengers to bring their pets?

Not to my knowledge. Maybe a transatlantic cruise on the QM2 might allow pets in the cargo area or something.

But if they ever do, you bet I'm bringing along Watson the Dachshund and Wendy the Bichon.

Regards,
Thomas

The QE2 and the QM2 have kennels but the pets are not allowed out of the kennel area. The pet is only allowed on transatlantic voyages and will be quarantined at the end of the journey, if the end port is in another country.

The simple answer is: No: unless the animal is a Service Animal that is onboard solely for the purpose of assisting it's owner with their disability. Prior arrangements must be made with the cruise line.

I am a pet person and my dog Kramer is one of my best buddies but I personally wouldn't want to be on a cruise with 2,000 people and 2,000 of man's best friends. Even I couldn't handle that one. I have found that pet's are like kids. The parents think they are angels but other folks often have a different opinion. <VBG>

Take care,
Mike(Can just hear it now: Your Doberman just ate Fifi) :-)

There were two guide dogs on our last cruise - lovely German Shepherds. Each night at dinner, they would lay quietly beneath the table (unlike my cats who would be begging for scraps the whole time). Actually, they were far better behaved than some of the children on board . . . .

Guide dogs and other service animals are about the best trained animals you will find. I would share my table with a service animal and it's owner any time.

Alas, I couldn't say the same for my dog Kramer. He would stay at my feet during the course of the meal but by the end the drool puddle would have my trousers soaked. That wouldn't be a nice way to end a lovely meal.

There is a service animal out there named Erin "The cruise dog" that with her owner has taken many a cruise. She also happens to be my dog Kramer's "pin up girl". He also drools over her. :-)

Take care,
Mike

Lizzie, Cruise Travel magazine had an article on this awhile back, I think the service dog was "allowed" to "use" the golf green. Of course a pooper scooper was instantly used. I think its wonderful the way the cruise lines use different ideas to accomodate the "special needs" traveler.

A long time ago my dh said some cruiseline should come up with a "Noah's Ark" cruise. Bet you could double the fares and still FILL the ship!

Trying to imagine our Boston Terrier (Cindy Lou Who) onboard a ship is just too much for me.....

Lizzy - the crew will set up certain areas with some sod or other substance where the dog can go and do it's thing. Usually these are out of the way places that most passengers will never even see.
