I take mine, but usually end up using the digital camera more. Cameras are so small these days its not a burden to bring them along. You might want to bring a power strip (has several plug-ins) to recharge stuff since on most ships theres only one outlet.
The Foggin' problem...............
The problem is the difference in temperature between
your cabin, ( cold, dry ), and the outside ( warm, moist ).
The fix is to place the camera in a zip lock baggie when you
leave the cabin. Allow the camera, In the baggie, to warm up
outside before removing the baggie. It shouldn't take but about
5-10 minutes out in the sun. Once the camera is the same temperature
as the air, no more fogging. Just remember to find a baggie
large enough to fit your camera before you leave home.

Another one that Ive used (and read about somewhere long ago)-take those little packets of silicone that come with new electronics and sometimes in pill bottles and stick it in your bag along with the camera. I believe the silicone helps absorb moisture.
