When booking cruise insurance, do you include the cost of airfare in the "trip cost"? Or is it typically just the cruise only part of the trip? Any advice in general on purchasing insurance? Now that I have booked our cruise, I need to buy insurance within the next week. I would like to have the pre-existing medical coverage, so I understand I need to purchase it soon.
You should include the entire cost of the trip. This includes the airfare, any hotels and cost of the cruise. Do remember that the higher the cost of the trip the higher the cost of the insurance. I feel that the few extra dollars spent on the premium is worth it.
Most travel insurance policies require that you purchase the policy within 7 - 14 days after booking in order to qualify for the pre-existing conditions waiver.
Take care and enjoy your cruise.
