Default Ft. Lauderdale/Port Canaveral

Hello,

We are sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale this November on the Caribbean Princess. I often see references made to both FLL and Port Canaveral in various threads concerning hotels, embarcation, etc. Are these 2 ports very close together? We are pretty new to cruising and I'm trying to get an idea of where the different ships leave from, etc. At first I had thought they were the same port, but I think I have figured out that they are not. (?)

Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge!

Houston

No...these are two different ports completely. Fort L is south of Port Canaveral. Not sure of the mileage between the two, but they are different. We go out of Port Cana. many times and love that port!

Thanks so much for the quick reply!

So, if our documents say Ft. Lauderdale, is that the name of the actual port we are sailing out of as well?

Gracias!

Well yes..that's the only cruise line port in Fort Lauderdale...Not sure if they have an official "name"..but it's the port out of Fort Lauderdale.
As far as Port C..and Fort L...there is some distance between the two..

Have a great time!

Hi, It used to be call Port Everglades for Fort Lauderdale Port, but we don't say it anymore. Port Canaveral has no airport, you land in Orlando about 45 minutes ride.Hope it helps. Have a nice cruise.Mateli
