Default I need help picking a cruise...

Which one of these cruises do you think would be the better choice.

We are a family of 4. The adults are just shy of 40 and the kids are 11 and 15. We have cruised once with Carnival and was not impressed with service or food. We have cruised once with Celebrity and loved every second.

Destiny is in September (missed school, hot, and hurricane season) and Princess will most likely be mid June.

Price factor: Princess a couple thousand dollars more but we live in PA so we can easily get to the port.

Any thoughts and comments on ship and ports would be helpful.

Carnival Destiny (7 day)
Sunday - San Juan, PR
Monday - St. Thomas, USVI
Tuesday - Dominica
Wednesday - Barbados
Thursday - Fun Day at Sea
Friday - Aruba
Saturday - Fun Day At Sea
Sunday - San Juan, PR

Caribbean Princess (9 day)
1 New York
2 At Sea
3 At Sea
4 Grand Turk
5 San Juan
6 St. Thomas
7 At Sea
8 Royal Naval Dockyard
9 At Sea
10 New York

phillygirl. Have you factored in the cost of air fare to and from Puerto Rico?
Which cruise has the ports that you really want to visit?
You really can't compare costs of a 9 day over a 7 day cruise. The 9 day will
always be more.
You said that you weren't impressed with Carnival and that you loved
Celebrity. Princess is nice happy medium between the two. Princess is
casual yet elegant, not stuffy or gaudy. Service and food are very good. Like
a nice resort hotel.
September is the peak of hurricane season, but the Southern route doesn't
seem to get hit as hard.
Will your kids fall behind in their school work? Does your school have
required attendance amounts? this could be a huge factor if you pull them
out of school and then they get sick and miss too many school days.
The 7 day cruise is very port intensive. I personally like more at sea days to
just relax.
i would pick a 9 day over a 7 day even if it didn't go anywhere. but that's me!!

Default Re: I need help picking a cruise...

The only port I have been to that is listed is Bermuda and I loved each visit. I will be in Aruba this November.

****Any thoughts on the other ports mentioned?****

I have never had a port intensive cruise so I am not sure how I would feel about one either. I enjoy the lazy sea days. Are you saying port intensives are tiring?

School is a big factor too. It was so easy when they were younger but now that they are 11 and 14 its getting hard to manage.

I have done a
7 night
4 night
7 night
8 night

I think I should just bite the bullet, save up big time and go for the 9 nighter. It sounds like I would enjoy a Princess cruise.
