Anne recently claimed that Oceania spent 25% more on food budget than other luxury lines. In another post, she inferred that Carnival spent more on food than NCL. To make both of these claims, she would need access to the cruise line food budget numbers.
Please post these numbers for all cruise lines for which they are available.
I can't tell you about the expenses but I saw an interesting show on the travel channel several months ago & they reported that the mega liners go through the equivalent of a grocery store every trip. For some reason 80,000 pounds is sticking in my head but that may simply be a function of my poor memory; I am not offering that as a fact.
I would suspect there is alot of synergy of resources involved when it comes to what a cruise line spends on it's food budget, based upon the economy of scale...thus Carnival Cruise Lines can purchase items for all of it's different cruise line members, at a significant savings where Oceania may not enjoy the advantage of buying in bulk , so yes the math would add up..just because one spends more does not mean the food is better (the exception is buying fresh in port)
The last list of food budgets I saw was from 2000-2001; Rennaissance was still on list. I would like to know the actual numbers instead of us all throwing around conjecture. From Anne's two posts, it seems she has access to the list. Is there anything wrong with sharing the list?
