Has anyone sailed recently on the Statendam? I read on another forum that the
rooms smelled of mold and mildew. I know that this ship was refurbished and
I was hoping that there wouldn't be a problem like that. We sailed on her last year
and the bathroom was not as nice as the newer ships but the room was ok.
We are sailing on her in Nov. for a 34 day cruise and don't think I could stand to
smell mold and mildew all that time.
She's been 100 % '' made over '' in late april, during a 23 days drydock in
Victoria B.C. .That was part of the ''Signature of Excellence '' fleet renewal
that HAL has committed to.
Seeing her since; she looks great; passengers feedbacks are favourable.
Although 12 years old, that '' mid-life'' rehab really turned her into a ''new ''
medium size ship ready for quite a few years still to go.
Thanks CG - that really relieves my mind. I didn't know if the refurbishing included the carpets and bathrooms. when we sailed on it last year they even had very old feather pillows in the room and the steward said it was because it was an "old" ship and these were the original pillows. Yeck!
