Golf on Princess Cruises

Have any of you taken the golf options in Mazatland, Puerta Vallarta or Cabo San Lucas? What is your opinion of these courses & do you think it's worth the price? Also, are the "tours" well guided with knowledgeable staff?

Hi Golfer,

I have to admit that I know next to nothing about golf. (One semester in college and on TV!)

I'd suggest you post your question on the "Shore Excursions" board and on the Princess board . Also post on the "Roll Call" for your cruise, if there is one. If not, start one and you may find some golfing buddies!

Happy cruise golfing!

We did putt putt golf on our cruise - does that count? JK--in fact it was so windy that day it actually kept blowing the ball away. That is about all I know for golfing but I know many cruises offer golf excursions.

Fern, thanks for your reply. Where is the Shore Excursions board. It's not listed on the Message Boards menu?

Lisa,

Shore Excursions is under "Practical Advice". (this forum) Just click on Practical Advice, at the top of this page and then scroll down to "Shore Excursions" and click on it.

Take care,
Mike

My answer is not specific to Princess but ever golfer I ever talked to or wrote to on these boards, expect for people who went on golf cruises, said it's not worth it. There are lots of hidden fees & by the time you get off the ship & get to the course, to get back on time you only get to play about 12-14 holes.

I haven't done any golf excursions on the Mexican Riviera, though I understand there are some fabulous courses near Cabo.

The ships all have "golf professionals" onboard now, so the escorts are pretty good. The ships also carry their own "rentals" these days... normally Callaways or Nikes.

The ship's golf excursions aren't cheap... but they do assure a certain piece of mind.

If time in port is long, I've booked golf on my own. If time is tighter I spend the extra and do a ship's excursion.
