Last cruise I packed up 2 12 packs of soda and put a 6 pack of water in a shoe box and packed it up good in a duffel and left it with my checked luggage with the porters. Got to my cabin with no problems.
I've thought about doing this since Carnival has said that you can bring a limited amount of soda on board. However, I was always worried about my luggage being thrown around and the soda getting so shook up that it exploded. Am I just being overly worried?
I read somewhere else that we can also get some sort of "soda" card on the ship. WE can get refills & a souvenier cup? Is this true on the Princess lines? If so, how do we get this & how much does it cost?
the rules and regulations regarding bringing aboard soda vary from line to line. Most lines don't have a problem with you bringing aboard a six-pack or two- especially if its a product that they do not carry. Most ships carry only Coke products. Everything in moderation. Check with your cruise line.
Most cruise lines have an unlimited soda card or sticker, you pay a flat rate and that entitles you to unlimited fountain sodas.
Jakk - on your question about Princess. Princess has a soda sticker that goes on your sign and sail card. Its for unlimited fountain soda. It cost us $25.00 last year for a 7 day cruise. When you board the ship there are tables set up just about everywhere on the ship where you can buy the sticker. They will try to push the special insulated cup for a couple of extra bucks, its not a bad deal, the cup is convenient, but you don't have to buy it if you don't want to. We found it much easier to buy the sticker at any bar, the bartenders are much more low-key about the whole purchase and the cup thing.
Coke products are the only ones that the ships have as per a fiscal deal with Coke. If you wish another brand you will have to bring it with you. Rather than carry a case onboard with you it might be better to just buy some at each port of call? Maybe for heavy soda drinkers that might not work but a suggestion.
