Default 2-way radios and electrical outlets on deck

Because of a disability I will not be leaving the ship in port - will it make sense to bring our two-way radios to keep in touch with my husband ashore? Also, are there electrical outlets anywhere near any deck chairs? I want to bring my satellite radio, and it requires power. (I have one that will modulate accross a wristband radio that I will also have.)

Carol, I don't have answers to your questions, but because you seem to know what you're talking about ..... are you and hubby hams? If so, please be aware that you CANNOT bring your 2m/440 handhelds; they are not allowed on the ships. Something to do with security and possible use of the equipment for terrorism. (I know, I know...but thems the rules!)

Hope you get an answer on the other parts of your question!

I haven't seen any electrical outlets on deck.

We used our COBRA 5 mile walkie talkies on board and they worked fine. Not sure how far they will work off the ship.

Walkie-Talkies work very well from ship to shore as long as you are up on deck. We have Motorola ones with a 5 mile range and sub-channels.
No outlets on deck.

There are no plugs up on deck that you can use. In any case you should only use your sat radio if you have headphones so please keep that in mind. As for using 2-way radios to keep in contact with each other it is often done onboard wityh low power walkie-talkies but if someone ashore is using them then you may run into problems, of the legal type! Many, if not most countries have some pretty strong laws agains using telecommunications. You will probably be okay but I personally would not take the chance of possible arrest and/or detainment by local authorities.
